Stan McIlrath began his auction career in 1979 after graduating from Reisch Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. He immediately began conducting auctions of all types, with a passion for land, farm equipment, and livestock auctions. In 1980, Stan attended the Livestock Auction Seminar at the South St. Paul Stockyards in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the manager of Grinnell Livestock Exchange, where he enjoyed having some auction duties. He also auctioned at the Baxter Sale Barn and currently is one of the auctioneers at Tama Livestock Auction.
Stan joined the Iowa Land Sales team in 2012. He has had the pleasure of conducting auctions in numerous locations around Iowa. Every auction is a little different, but all are equally important. He is confident that each team member knows their job and does it extremely well.
Stan really enjoys the personal communication (a.k.a. talking) he has with buyers and sellers alike. He has built his career on the respect of the community, honesty, integrity, and the referrals of past clients. The McIlrath reputation is very important to him, and he has worked hard to earn a good one and equally hard to uphold it. His goal is simple: to provide professional auction services, to the satisfaction of all involved.
Each year Stan donates a considerable amount of time to various organizations such as Poweshiek County Pheasants Forever, Poweshiek County Ducks Unlimited, Poweshiek County 4-H, various town and school functions, etc. He is the chairman of the Grinnell Rural Fire Department and a past board member of the Poweshiek County Fair Association and Central Counties Co-op.
As a farmer, Stan understands the complexities of owning, buying, and selling land. He knows that oftentimes selling land is an emotional journey, and he is proud of the personal attention that the Iowa Land Sales & Farm Management team offers to each client.
